This program provides support for and solutions to immediate problems and concerns of seniors and/or persons with disabilities. Through direct contact with the Citizen Advocacy staff, clients receive support and informed advice to help them address immediate problems or situations.

What are our Goals?

  • To liaise with medical, legal, financial services, etc.

  • To provide emotional support during a stressful and/or critical situation.

  • To provide essential information regarding one's rights and choices.

What are the Results?

Short-term advocacy staff can effectively address problems by accessing services and can empower seniors and persons with disabilities to exercise their rights.

Take the case of Walter and the lack of heat in his apartment.

"I did not know what to do and, because of a stroke, I have trouble speaking. My landlord did not answer my phone calls. But Citizen Advocacy helped me solve the problem. I now know that I have rights as a tenant and, with CA's help, I got the landlord to fix my radiators."
